Plesiosaurs and the Loch Ness Monster?

Many people have heard the legend of the Loch Ness monster. Some people believe that it is a plesiosaur. And some people don’t.

But we do know that plesiosaurs did exist but they became extinct about 65 million years ago.

Today we saw a movie from National Geographic called Dinosaurs Unearthed. It was about a hadrosaurus that was discovered still intact and had fossilized skin and scales. If that happens they call it a dinosaur mummy. They found it in in North Dakota. I liked the movie because it taught me about dinosaurs. Here’s a picture of a hadrosaur:

The word hadrosaur means “big lizard”. It lived in the late Cretaceous period. It was not a meat eater but was a herbivore. Even though paleontologists don’t know what colour dinosaurs were, they now think the hadrosaur had stripes. It lived in herds and it is a duckbilled dinausaur.

If I could the movie on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 10.

Feathered Flying Dinosaurs

There exists a type of dinosaur that can fly. I believe that it was a fierce hunter that had feathers and wings. It was called Archaeopteryx lithographica. I think the velociraptor evolved into this flying dinosaur and this flying dinosaur evolved into the birds that we see now.

Walking with Dinosaurs Live!

Today me and my dad went to see Walking with Dinosaurs Live!

It was fun. I loved to see it live. I liked the Utahraptor the most because it is a relative of the velociraptor which is my favourite dinosaur. It could run fast without damaging its claw.

I went there at age 8 close to the end of school.

Royal Ontario Museum – Dinosaur Exhibit

I’m very very lucky because I live in Ontario, and the Royal Ontario Museum isn’t so far away. The James and Louise Temerty Galleries of the Age of Dinosaurs is open. They have lots of dinosaurs there. David Evans is the curator. One day I would like to meet him because he’s doing the job that I really want to do and I have lots of questions. Who knows, maybe someday I will get to ask him my questions.

Today I am writing about my favourite dinosaur. It is a Velociraptor.

I drew a picture of it and here it is.

It’s my favourite dinosaur because I like the claw and I like the fact that it is one of the smartest dinosaurs. Did you know that Velociraptors had feathers? That’s what this article tells us (Velociraptor Had Feathers).

There’s a website called Dinopedia it tells a lot of names and information about dinosaurs. It has information on Velociraptors and a lot more types of dinosaurs.
